GLA Headquarters
Located on the South Bank of the River Thames, opposite The Tower of London adjacent to Tower Bridge stands the unmistakable new home of the GLA.
Kite Glass were delighted to be selected by Architectural Metalworkers, Glazzard (Dudley) Limited to supply and install various toughened glass products to a number of areas within the new GLA building.

Main Entrance - Spiral Ramp
Balusters and polished stainless steel handrail standing in front of glass by Glazzards.
Glass set into steel base channel supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Ltd
19mm Clear Toughened Heatsoaked Cantilevered glass balustrades with all edges polished by Kite Glass.
Every panel for each individual site was measured to exacting tolerances for manufacture and installation.
Level 1 Glazed Screens
Head and base tracks supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Ltd.
21.5mm Overall thickness heatsoaked laminated full height (2800mm approx) glazed screens with polished edges by Kite Glass.
NB- Two Panels in particular one @ 2450mm x 2880mm (366 kgs) and one @ 1840mm x 2860mm (265 kgs) were hoisted over two floors and glazed into difficult locations.
Level 2 Screens
Head and base tracks supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Ltd.
19.5mm Overall thickness toughened heatsoaked laminated full height glazed screens. Opaque interlayer. Polished edges.
Level 2 Balustrade
Glass set into steel base channel supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Ltd
19mm Clear toughened heatsoaked glass with polished all edges by Kite Glass.
Debating Chamber Balustrade
19mm Clear toughened heatsoaked glass, screen printed. Overall height approx 1780mm by Kite Glass.The glass was set into a floor track and bonded to a steel structure with structural silicone at the mid point.
NB - The balustrade needed to achieve a line load capability of 1.5kN. A full size mock up was tested at Kite Glass to 11.5kN, without failure of the glass or structural silicone bonding.
Glass manufactured to CAD details supplied by Glazzard (Dudley) Limited. Glass produced to 0.5mm tolerances.
Testing carried out by Campion and Partners Limited Structural silicone bonding sub contracted by Kite Glass to Structural Glazing Limited.
Function Room Screens
Head and base tracks supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Ltd.
21.5mm overall thickness toughened heatsoaked laminated full height (2950mm) glazed screens by Kite Glass.
Level 9 Balustrade
Steel base track supplied and installed by Glazzard (Dudley) Limited.
1905mm toughened heatsoaked laminated cantilevered glass balustrade with polished edges by Kite Glass.
