Troy Court

Owned by Les Vaux Housing Trust, a housing association that was formed in 1989 by the late Deputy John Le Fondré, Troy Court was purchased in order to save its tenants from eviction. Over the next 11 years, the Trust purchased other properties for similar reasons.

The new development, spread across two construction phases, consists of 123 new homes in six blocks of modern housing accommodations in Troy Court, Jersey. Under the plans, each household would have access to an outdoor space such as a patio or balcony and in order to achieve the visually stunning aesthetics, the client’s plans required glass and screen-printed balconies.

The project was awarded to Kite Glass who, after accessing the location and structural specifications, supplied a total of 512 panels of 20.89mm SentryGlas® clear, toughened, heat-soaked, laminated and screen-printed glass, polished all round and with nominal radius corners; and 26 panels of 15mm toughened CNC polished, heat-soaked glass, finished off with fixation hole and nominal radius corners.

The opaque, nautical-themed pattern glazing on the balcony screens is visually provoking and provides privacy for residents. Expertly produced by Kite Glass’ technical team, the screen-printing process involved the production of a complex set of graphics. Due to the site’s limited storage capacity, special loading instructions were given for each delivery to be made according to an installation schedule that was matched with the apartments’ completion programme.

This project is part of a major redevelopment of the area, all to be complete in May 2022.
