Kite Glass manufactured and supplied architectural glass for the new Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Smethwick, which will host the diving and swimming events for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, held from 28 July to 8 August 2022, and will be open for public use in May 2023.
The building’s state-of-the-art facilities include a 50m Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 25m diving pool, a community swimming pool and seating for up to 1000 spectators.
Kite Glass has proudly supplied a total of 100m² of glass for both the staircase and the seated area:
- 80m² of 20.89mm heat-soaked, toughened and laminated glass with a SentryGlas® interlayer and CNC polished;
- 20m² of 10.89mm heat-soaked, toughened and laminated glass with a SentryGlas® interlayer and polished edges.
