After the #Olympics, we are all ready for the next major sports event. Back in 2017, Birmingham city was successful in its application to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Alexander Stadium, as its main venue to host the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the athletics events was, in 2020, granted redevelopment permission. The works include the new west stand, a new track and a new northern plaza, increasing permanent capacity from 12,700 to 18,000.
Due to be complete in Spring 2022, Kite Glass has now supplied this project with 160m2 of 21mm heat-soaked toughened low iron screen-printed LamitecSuper glass, for the balustrading. These were polished all round and included CNC shapes with countersunk holes, as well as a graded bespoke screenprint.
